The Royal Military Colleges Club of Canada, founded in 1884, provides a continuing point of contact for former Cadets (alumni) of the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC), Kingston, the Collège Militaire Royal (CMR), St-Jean-sur-Richilieu and the former Royal Roads Military College (RRMC), Victoria.
The Club provides a variety of services for its members, support for the Cadets of RMC and is engaged in preserving the customs, traditions and legacy of the Royal Military Colleges. The preservation of customs, traditions and leadership excellence is ensured through the RMC Club Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization, which acts as a network for financial support, donations and fund-raising in support of the Colleges.
The alumni is made up of Lifetime and paid-up members who are either in active service with the Canadian Forces (Regular & Reserve component), civilian occupation or retired.
The Manitoba Branch of the RMC Club has been in existence for over 40 years (circa 1969). The Branch first came into being through the efforts and interests of Past President, Allen Kear. Presently the Branch holds a roster of roughly 100 members. While legally independent, it supports the objectives and purpose of the parent Club (Kingston). Not only engaged in maintaining communication and awareness of the Colleges' evolution, it provides a network of contacts and services for members of the alumni residing in Manitoba. While day-to-day activities are social in nature, the Branch ensures that relevant changes, services and constitution is documented and communicated by way of a newsletter and Web site. As the opportunity presents itself, the Branch and the parent Club look for ways to improve relations and be involved with the greater community and charitable organizations.
